The Washington Post is planning coverage about our launch in the upcoming business section on Monday, Jan. 12 and I am requesting you to please be on the look out for that.
I am also being asked by The Washington Post Business section reporter to forward to them information about Sikh Business Executives who have not been written about by the Post before, who have profitable businesses that they have created from scratch. (These would not be people in such professional fields as doctoring, accounting, public relations, lawyers, for example).
The reporter is looking for Sikhs who have developed *unique* products or services (not franchised businesses) and who have made the leap from a safe, secure, job to build a dream. Optimally, the reporter is looking for people who came up with really interesting, different kinds of businesses/products.
A few more conditions:
- must be based in D.C., Maryland, orVirginia
- must have started their business in the past 2-3 years
- must be profitable, and be willing to talk about it (preferably in the five figures or larger)
Please feel free to pass along the name of anyone who you think fits these criteria of a true entrepreneur ASAP so we can forward the same to the reporter at the Washington Post. |

Dear Sikh Business Executive:
It is a pleasure to WELCOME you to the historic launch of the first-ever Sikh American Chamber of Commerce.
We are so excited that you could join us in this unique opportunity to bring the Sikh American business community on a global platform here in the Nation's Capital.
As the weeks go by, and the winds of change sweeping the corridors of power subside, the real work of taking our country, and our community, forward will begin.
This is truly an exciting time for all who are witnessing a new era with the new Obama Administration taking office. Just like the newcomers who will be coming to Washington to occupy the highest offices in our lands, new organizations such as ours will also seek to flourish and promote the Sikh American business community at large.
We can't wait to meet many of you face-to-face as we roll out ambitious plans for 2009.
Please feel free to contact us and we look forward to welcoming you at our local networking events and retreats.
Best Wishes, Lakhinder J.S. Vohra President/CEO Sikh American Chamber of Commerce
